Pillsbury hired three former Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft attorneys. The three will join Pillsbury's insolvency and restructuring practice in New York City.

Tweet Share on Facebook January 17, 2012 CommentOver the past four years, approximately 30 percent of all lawyers promoted to partner among the top 200 firms were women, according to a study by The American Laywer. The study looked at nearly 5,000 lawyers.
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati hired named Doug Clark and Jack Sheridan as co-managing partners of the firm. Former CEO Steve Bochner, who took over the firm in August 2009, will practice corporate law full time.

December brought good news for the economy as a whole, but it was terrible for the legal industry. Slight job gains in October and November were erased, as the sector lost 1,800 jobs during the month.

Tweet Share on Facebook January 3, 2012 CommentIt was another slow week in the legal industry as most law firms took a break over the holidays. A few firms had promotion rounds over the holidays, including Nelson Mullins, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, Miller & Chevalier, and Baker Botts.
Nelson Mullins had a large round of promotions—17 attorneys were promoted to partner firmwide, and three associates were promoted to counsel.
