Among the 111 firms who provided data for 2010 and 2011, hiring was up 25 percent over the past year: firms hired an average of 33.3 summer associates in 2011, compared with 26.7 associates in 2010.

Job offers for summer attorneys dropped by one-third between 2009 and 2010, according to the American Lawyer's summer hiring survey. Seventy-nine firms responded to the survey—1,791 summer associates got offers in 2010, down from 2,679 in 2009.
