The number of minority lawyers at major law firms has risen since last year, according to The American Laywer's 2011 Diversity Scorecard. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and White & Case topped the rankings—about a quarter of all U.S. attorneys at those firms are minorities.

Lawyers from Cahill Gordon & Reindel helped NBC secure rights to televise the winter and summer Olympics in the U.S. through 2020. The network will pay the Intenational Olympic Committee $4.38 billion for the rights.

New York Congressman Anthony Weiner has retained Baker & Hostetler partner John Siegal to advise him amid the fallout of his sexting scandal.

Vinson & Elkins has named Ayman Khaleq its managing partner in the Middle East. The firm has offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ryadh, Saudi Arabia.

DLA Piper announced it is forming a China Securities Litigation Rapid Response Team to "aid companies and senior management affected by the dramatic uptick in securities litigation and government investigations directed at Chinese-based companies listed on US exchanges."

Former SNR Denton partner Daniel Zimmermann has joined WilmerHale's Palo Alto office, where he will work in the firm's corporate and venture capital practices.

O'Melveny & Myers has promoted four transactions lawyers to firmwide leadership positions.

Seyfarth Shaw hired Matthew Hafter to work in its Chicago corporate law practice.

Perkins Coie has hired three lawyers in San Diego to work in its emerging companies practice. The lawyers, Peter Townshend, George Colindres, and Monique Ho, have joined from McDermott, Will & Emery.

Blank Rome has acquired Houston-based boutique firm Abrams, Scott & Bickley, and the firm's five partners. The move will become official at the end of the month.

Goodwin Procter has named partner David Kleinfeld head of the firm's San Diego office.

Foley & Lardner has hired Toni Hickey, former Deputy Chief of Staff for the Office of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property. Hickey will work as senior counsel in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.

K&L Gates has hired Jan Murray as a partner in the firm's health care practice.

McCarter & English partner Moy Ogilve has been named president of Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity, a Connecticut-based organization that encourages the recruitment of minority lawyers.
