The group will move the team there next year—DLA Piper advised Atlanta Spirit—the Atlanta ownership group—on the $170 million sale. The firm also hired Michael Macaluso from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. He will work in the firm's finance practice.
Matthew Powers is leaving Weil, Gotshal & Manges to form his own boutique firm. The firm also lost Nichola Groombridge and David Ball, Jr., who have joined Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Tweet Share on Facebook June 14, 2011 CommentThe number of minority lawyers at major law firms has risen since last year, according to The American Laywer's 2011 Diversity Scorecard. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and White & Case topped the rankings—about a quarter of all U.S. attorneys at those firms are minorities.
Lawyers from Cahill Gordon & Reindel helped NBC secure rights to televise the winter and summer Olympics in the U.S. through 2020. The network will pay the Intenational Olympic Committee $4.38 billion for the rights.
